Cape Town Wedding Planner Reflection: Our Favourite Cakes
Through years of experience as a Cape Town wedding planner, I’ve learnt how important a wedding cake is, both to the couple, and their guests, as well as to us wedding planners because of how many purposes a wedding cake can serve.
A wedding cake is symbolic of the sweet life that the newlyweds will share together, which is why the couple feed it to each other after cutting it together on the night of their wedding; as a promise to offer their partner a sweet life ahead. Wedding guests also share in the sweetness by enjoy a slice of the wedding cake as this is symbolic for them sharing the sweetness with the couple over the years ahead. The cutting of the cake is also important, as it is officially the first task that the newlyweds will share together in their marriage.
We have seen some absolutely stunning wedding cakes over the years at weddings we have planned in Cape Town and here are some of our favourites:
1. Whimsical Wedding Cake
This wedding cake was made for Zonel and Luke’s wedding at Cavalli Estate, by Wades Cakes, with the florals and cake stand provided by Puccini Creations.

7. Country Wedding Cake

8. Ornate Wedding Cake

Us Cape Town wedding planners love that a wedding cake serves as not only a delicious treat, but also doubles as a fantastic way to accentuate or perpetuate the décor theme and colours of a particular wedding. The cutting of the cake is also a great way to get guests attention after dinner at a wedding reception, and then transition to the first dance and get the party started on the dance floor.
As a Cape Town wedding planner, I’ve seen some truly incredible cakes which I always find inspiring, and these have been just a few. I hope these pictures have served as some inspiration for your own wedding too!
Until next time,
