Cape Town Wedding Planner Reflection: Rachel & Sean at Lourensford Estate

Cape Town Wedding Planner Reflection: Rachel & Sean at Lourensford Estate

One of the hardest parts of my job as a Cape Town Wedding Planner, is after a wedding is over, and we get around a thousand beautiful and perfect pictures from the wedding photographer, that I need to painstakingly narrow down to just 20 to share on our website gallery, Instagram, and Facebook, and Rachel and Sean’s all-white wedding at Lourensford was no exception.

This gorgeous couple, who lived in Johannesburg, chose Nicolette Weddings as their Cape Town Wedding Planner team, and we’re so glad they did! Rachel works in the fashion industry and we loved working with her because she always chose the classiest and most stylish options we presented her with throughout the wedding planning process, so between her choices and our guidance, it all came together perfectly!

The couple also chose just about any Cape Town wedding planner’s favourite venue to host their big day; Lourensford Estate in Somerset West. What I love about this venue is that it is always so well maintained and always looks it’s best! I also love that the neutral palette of the venue allows for almost any colour or décor scheme, and it fitted Rachel and Sean’s all white wedding exquisitely.

In order to pull off the “all-white wedding” look successfully, and without it looking too bland, it’s important to use plenty of detail and bring in different textures of white in order to create depth (there’s a little insider Cape Town wedding planner tip for you). We did this for Rachel and Sean’s wedding by using cut crystal wine glasses, a variety of different types of white flowers, and a variety of different flower containers. We also added detail to the tables by using floral embossed white table clothes.

Of course we had the couple’s custom made stationery designed by our favorites, Secret Diary Designs.

For a more personal touch, we arranged a large custom-made vinyl monogram of the couple’s initiations on the dancefloor.

And finally, the 5 tiered all white, delicately detailed, wedding cake by Wades Cakes almost stole the whole show!

We also made sure to glam up the cocktail hour veranda with some modern furniture, palm trees and chandeliers overhead.

The ceremony was set up on the road on the Lourensford Estate, so that the couple and all their guests were shaded and surrounded by hundred year old trees during the proceedings.

For the ceremony setup, we used classic pillars, topped with white flowers, to line the aisle for the bridal party and bride to walk down.

The bride and her bridesmaids walked down the aisle to the beautiful sound of our favourite string quartet from Play Music.

At the end of the aisle stood a classic square gazebo, softly draped and finished with flower arrangements on the sides, which was the perfect setting for the couple’s first kiss as man and wife.

After the ceremony, it was champagne, confetti and celebration time….

… followed by some fun bridal party pictures…

…and a little romance between the newlyweds.

After the grand entrance, and an amazing dinner by Stir Food, it was time to get the party started, so good thing we had a special coffee barista on hand to keep energy levels up….

…. as well as endlessly flowing tequila!

As any Cape Town wedding planner will agree, all of these ingredients make up the perfect recipe for an amazing party!

Rachel and Sean’s Lourensford wedding was both planned and co-ordinated by Cape Town wedding planner, Nicci Morris of Nicolette Weddings, and photographed by our favourite, Abri Kruger Photography.
